SCU busts suspect on GPS probation
HYANNIS - On Friday, members of the Barnstable Police Street Crime Unit (SCU) were working in the Hyannis area. The SCU had received information from a confidential source about the occupants of a vehicle driving around Hyannis selling narcotics. The driver was reportedly from Boston.

At approximately 10:45pm, SCU members Barnstable Officer Peter Ginnetty and Yarmouth Officer Nicholas Ambrosini located the vehicle. It was traveling on Route 28 near the Bearses Way intersection in Hyannis. The vehicle, a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, had a defective tail light.  Ginnetty and Ambrosini stopped the vehicle.

The operator was identified as Frantzy Cambrone, 21, of Boston, MA (left). The vehicle also had a female passenger identified as Sylvia N. Fawehinmi, 19, of Lynn, MA (right). Ginnetty and Ambrosini detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle interior. Based on this observation and information earlier provided to the SCU, SCU member Mashpee Officer Michael Assad and his K-9 partner Lola were requested to assist.

Prior to the arrival of Lola, Fawehinmi produced a bag of marijuana which was less than one ounce. She and Cambrone denied being in possession of any additional narcotics. Upon their arrival at the motor vehicle stop, Lola was deployed by Assad. Lola indicated the presence of narcotics on both Cambrone and Fawehinmi’s person.  Assad spoke with both regarding the reliability of Lola. Fawehinmi produced a small bag of “crack” cocaine hidden in her bra. Cambrone produced a plastic bag from under his underwear in the area of his buttocks. The bag contained twelve small bags of “crack” cocaine and one Percocet. Both were placed under arrest. Cambrone was charged with Possession of Class B/crack cocaine with intent to distribute, Possession of Class B/Percocet with intent to distribute, and Operating a MV with defective equipment. Fawehinmi was charged with Possession of Class B/crack cocaine

Cambrone is known to Boston area law enforcement as an associate of a Boston neighborhood street gang.  He is currently on two-year probation out of Suffolk Superior Court which includes wearing a GPS probation monitoring bracelet. Cambrone was convicted in November 30th, 2012 of witness intimidation. He was sentenced to two years in jail with eight months to serve. The victim/witness in this case was involved in a murder investigation.

Dennis Police start Blizzard of '13 damage assessment
DENNIS
- The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is initiating an effort to determine whether the Commonwealth and any of its counties may be eligible to receive federal disaster assistance under a Presidential declaration as a result of the February 8-9th 2013 Blizzard.

This determination of eligibility is a multi-step process and at this time MEMA is engaging in the first step of the process; ie: “initial damage assessments”.

Under this process MEMA is seeking information to determine eligibility.

One of the areas that MEMA will be gathering information on is for “Individual Assistance” (IA), regarding damage and impacts to a primary residence and business property. In evaluating damages, the primary factor considered is overall impacts to the residents and businesses. Generally, to qualify for IA disaster assistance, the state must show that hundreds of  primary residences or businesses have suffered significant damage or were destroyed and that insurance either is not available or was inadequate.

If you have sustained damage to your Dennis primary residence or Dennis business we will need the following information: Street Address, type of residence or business, type of damage and if there is insurance.
This information is needed no later than Tuesday February 26th 2013.

To report damage in the Town of Dennis, please go to Dennis Police Department’s website at www.dennispolice.com and click on the February 8-9th 2013 Blizzard link. You can also call the Dennis Police Department’s special phone line that has been set up, 774-352-1575, and leave your information.

Please note that seasonal homes are not eligible for this process.

For more information please go to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency’s website at www.mass.gov/eopss/agencies/mema/.
